Ok, we all know that menswear was always in love with the term ”utility”. This is usually seen in military-inspired overcoats and sometimes with the camo prints. Seems like it’s time for some changes, as many designers took the dawn of aviation and early 20th-century safari style as an inspiration motive for their street look collections.
Dunhill was all about scorched earth-colored brown wide brim fedora, open-necked shirt, and lightweight scarf. The famous Belstaff went full throttle with a desert combat collection of field jackets, tanks suits and multi-pocketed gilets inspired by the Desert Rats, and also by the British forces based in North Africa during WWII. We are talking about early aviation uniforms, explorers outfits, that we usually see in those classy movies from the 20′ placed in Africa as high style inspiration.
The Tanks Suits
It’s all about the good old Tank Suit; well we know that this isn’t for everyone. So if you’re giving this trend a whirl steer towards its more wearable aspects, check out: khaki field jackets, chinos and bush shirts (short sleeves and two chest pockets) just perfect for an urban expedition. This is definitely a standout look, an item (along with the jacket) that embodies almost all of those classy characteristics that we love about the safari look concept.
As you may see, here we have a tonne of gray; from the boots to the jackets, this is by far the leading color. But that’s not all as you may also find shades of blue, green, and those classy black and white items (pants and jackets)
This is by definition a classy casual look, full of personality, attitude and that Indiana Jones charm that we all love, in a few words the perfect warm season street style statement.
